Bajaj Auto launched the Pulsar 220 - using the second generation premium DTS-Si engine, the world's most fuel-efficient engine. The company said that the Bajaj Pulsar 220 is being launched in the 125-130cc category. With the launch of the Pulsar 220, Bajaj will put out its reponse to the demand for more fuel-efficient bikes. Today, June 24, Bajaj Auto launched a second generation of its premium DTS-Si engine. Claiming that it was world's most fuel-efficient engine, Bajaj said the digital twin spark swirl induction technology would be incorporated in upcoming motorcycle models; the DTS-Si engine would feature in the new Pulsar 220.

 

 

Bajaj Auto said that comparison of data on fuel consumption of motorcycles manufactured in Asia makes it clear that they had developed one of the most efficient engines in the world. Although the company did not reveal mileage details, it said that the new Pulsar220 DTSi would be launched in 125-130cc category. Bajaj Auto unveiled the Pulsar 220 fiited with the DTS-Si engine. The company claimed that the Pulsar 220 DTSi was the fastest motorcycle in the country to be commercially produced. The Pulsar 220 DTSi can achieve a speed of 144km per hour and delivers a good 56km/l. The ThePulsar 220 DTSi comes with a huge carburettor, and can accelerate from 0 to 60km in four seconds. The Pulsar 220 comes at a price of Rs70,000, and is certain to delight speed- lovers. The company said that it hoped to sell 1000 units of the Pulsar 220 every month.

Bajaj Auto Ltd., today announced the launch of the 2009 Pulsar 220 edition. With it’s launch, Bajaj Auto has raised the bar in performance biking segment quite a few notches higher – the Pulsar 220 has now evolved to become the fastest Indian with an amazing top speed of 144km/hr.

The new 220 gets the performance boost with 32 venturi carburettor, the bigest ever used in India. In addition, the intake port in the cylinder head has been modified, along with higher lift and duration cam. A larger resonator and catalytic convertor is also used to increase performance. The higher engine performance acheived has been matched to a modified 5th gear ratio, to make the new Pulsar 220, ‘The Fastest Indian’.

Aimed at the performance bikers who are looking for a thrilling ride experience, this bike comes with many power packed features – auto choke, clip-on handle bar, split seats, engine oil cooler, fuel and battery charge indicators, etc. It also uses temperature based ignition mapping system through which the ignition timing is optimized to acheive good startability, quick warm up and outstanding torque.
